My Deep Yes

Yes to slow country, out in the open air.

Yes to old comfort books and movies, the kind that make you laugh and cry and then laugh again.

Yes to dancing, lots of it; in the kitchen, in the garden, wherever the music moves us.

Yes to staying crazy.

Yes to loyal friends, friends who recognize the sound of my laughter in a room full of people.

Yes to the ocean, always yes to the ocean.

Yes to a garden full of roses and gardenias with a creaky wooden swing.

Yes to a big porch with two rocking chairs where we sip

our tea and wonder at how the stars never lose their magic.

Yes to a home full of soft blankets and pillows, crayon drawings up on the fridge, more dogs than we should be allowed to have.

Yes to a couple of answered prayers running around reminding us that we actually know so little but love so much.

Yes to the sound of little feet moving quickly towards the kitchen as the smell of blueberry pancakes wafts through the house on Saturday morning.

Yes to crayon drawings up on the fridge, bedtime stores, and so many goodnight kisses.

Yes to candlelit nights, where shadows fall and his strong hands lift me up.

Yes to a love so pure, so deep it changes everything.
